A COLLECTION OF PROCESSING SKETCHES

Sole Developer

This is a collection of programs, known as sketches, made in Processing - a programming language similar to Java tailored to visual art.

Constellations was created in response to the prompt 'Mouse as Input'. In this program, the user creates stars by clicking on the canvas and connects them to create a constellation.

Endless Staircase was created in response to the prompt 'Image as Input'. It features a pug running endlessly up, or down, a staircase at a speed controlled by the user. (Not shown above)

Wrapping Paper was created in response to the prompt 'Keyboard as Input'. This program generates a polka-dot pattern with a different colour scheme for each letter of the alphabet.

Right Hand, Left Hand was created in response to the prompt 'Sound as Input'. This program visually represents the melody of Sarabande by Eric Scheele.

Positive Thinking was created in response to the prompt 'Time as Input'. This program is a game about trying to recover from mental health issues and struggling with negative thoughts. In many ways, Positive Thinking was a precursor to In the Evening. (Not shown above)

WORLD ORDER (Dynamic Visual Identity) was a response to a brief tasking us with creating a dynamic and interactive visual identity for a band. This program represents the Japanese dance group/pop musicians WORLD ORDER.

These sketches were created over the course of the semester as part of my undergraduate degree. As the sole developer, I undertook the following roles:

  • Designer

  • Programmer

  • Artist
