GALACTIC BOTANY
Producer / Designer
Galactic Botany is a VR game that places the player in the role of a botanist tasked with growing alien plants in order to save their dying, polluted planets. The puzzle plants are three dimensional puzzles, tailored to the unique mechanics of VR, represented as alien flora that you nurture and grow through play. With the proceeds of growing the plants, the player is also able to customise themselves and their environment.
Galactic Botany was made as an industry project in association with Toast VR. We set out to make a game that met Toast’s design ethos of creating VR games that players new to the medium can jump into and play. This game marked my first experience working with VR and working in a five-person team for an extended period of time.
This game was completed in two semesters as the capstone unit of my game development undergraduate team. My team, Nested Games, comprised of Aimee Lovett, Jared Carey, Joshua Crowley and Vanessa Pople. I had the following roles on the team:
Producer
Designer
Playtester
Primary Presenter
As an industry project, this game is not publicly available to play. If you are interested in playing Galactic Botany, please get in touch and I can see what I can arrange!
